 Elections for 2010

 By Ron

This Thursday's board meeting will be addressing the issue of elections for the coming year.  If any of you would like to consider running for an office please contact VP Russ Vann.  Members who wish to seek an office must be members in good standing and all fees must be paid up to date.  The more people running the more ideas and challenges the officers will have for upcoming year.  Those wanting to make nominations from the floor must do it at this meeting.  The ballots will be available by e-mail and hard copy for a vote at the November meeting.  Voting deadline will be November 4 and ballots will be counted at the November 5 meeting. *

 Gymkhana News!

The next gymkhana is Oct 10. Entries and TO's are 8:30am to 9:30am, Costume contest 9:45am. Jackpot barrels at 10:15am with the gymkhana to follow.
October is our Halloween costume contest!!! Please dress up safely and we will again have a few prizes to hand out. If you can compete safely in your costume, please feel free to leave it on all day. If not, we will have the contest first prior to the jackpot so those that wish can take it off for the competition..
We are trying to plan our year end awards. Please let me know if anyone has any donations. We are again giving the saddle winners a choice of the saddle or the money. We will be giving NICE handmade buckles for 2nd place. Our ability to get out and get donations will determine how many other places and what we can give. So please help us out as much as possible. Some of our classes will only have 3 places, but others have more. It would be nice to give at least 4 places, 5 would be awesome!!
Another note on year end awards, There are some of the classes that are very close. I think it would be best to have the awards in December. That will give me time to see who wins the saddles, get them ordered and have them to hand out. Would it work out for everyone to have the awards on Dec. 12? It is still the second Saturday and I should be able to have all awards in by then. We can either have a fun day or just have an awards banquet. Bob and Steph can provide sloppy joes and hot dogs for $1.50 each, all other dishes will be pot luck with a sign up sheet at the last gymkhana. *Michelle and Bonnie

Note From the President

  Hello Everyone,

I want to welcome you to our new Web Page and Newsletter.  One of our newest members, Randi Jo has taken over the projects and is really barreling down.  Her enthusiasm is contagious so let’s all catch it.  I want to thank Jim Martin for all his hard work on the old Web Page and Carol Nickerson for her work on the last newsletter.

In order for these projects to be successful they need continuous input from the membership.

As member of our club you have a responsibility to contribute your time, and ideas. We need people to help with the gymkhanas, the college rodeo, turnouts, round pen, dressage arena and the rodeo arena.  Many of you do not realize the many long hours that John and Pat Durkit, Cindy and Bill Furina, John Zaborac and Carol Nicholson have put into preparing the arenas and facility with the watering, raking, mowing, etc.  Yet we don’t have volunteers to mow between the bleachers, in the holding pens and other areas.  The dressage arena needs to have rocks raked and removed.  Dressage equipment needs to be painted and maintained.  Our Facilities Director and his crew have been trying to complete the turnout areas and yet we still need materials to be donated to complete the project. What many of you don’t realize is the all these people are volunteers.  We have no paid workers!!!!!  Howard Mangum had volunteered to oversee the Royalty for this upcoming year and due to budget concerns the board voted to transfer any extra monies to help with our ongoing Gymkhana.  Which reminds me they need funds to help with year end awards, so if you have a little extra you can direct to them please do.

Our club’s facilities  provide for you and your families well being.  We are concerned that your horses have a safe environment when out here.  All this dependends upon your commitment to the club and your membership.  So when you have some extra time please help out!!  We are a private club and it is an honor and a privilege to be a member!

Memberships and boarding leases will be coming up for renewal in January and we have elections coming in November.  Anyone interest in running for an office needs to contact Russ Vann, VP.

Your galloping Pres.

Ron
